Re: Re-location advice

just my tots,
I think Taiwan and Malaysia will be some good choices for re-location.
Lower living costs and common language and culture(more or less)
Buying properties for foreigner are easier in this two countries too.
If i have the means and freedom, will have choose either this two country.
Now near 50 liao.. need some place with kampung style so can chill chill with nature.
Talking about security. is like comparing apple with water-melon.
The smaller a country is much much easier to manage. the bigger it is, more issues. More people more problem. Both plays a role in it. Simple equation.

Some may know how to row the money and still last quite awhile even though still on renting room basis.
Some are hanging out in the streets just after 2 weeks of pure entertainment and begging on the streets.

First time hear Taiwan is cheap to retire!

Unless you're talking about staying up in the mountains with natives.

To name a few ,

1) tourist visa
2) education/student visa
3) spouse visa
4) work visa
5) retirement visa
6) elite visa

the criterias for the visas are easily met as long as u have the cash. education/work visa can also be obtained using cash without actually studying or working in Thailand.

Also with elite visa, for as little as $11sgd a day, u can get a visa hassle free for 5 years. Upfront fee though.

Yeap first time im hearing it too. I can't say the same about other regions but I spoke with some Taipei natives and they are all complaining about the rising costs there. The apartments cost approximately 200-300k sgd equivalent, but their graduate starting pay is only averaging 1,200-1,600 SGD. I think you will need about two-thirds more savings if you intend to relocate to taiwan as opposed to thailand.

Yes I think not possible to have cheaper cost lof living in Taiwan as compared to Thailand or Malaysia.

Retire in Taiwan might as well stay put in Singapore.

All still depends on where you wish to stay and what you looking for.
Just state bkk as example..also have condo fetching 4-8mil thb in sukhumvit road and thonglor..sgd160k - 320k...still much smaller size than our SG 3 room flat.
but if in Bangna area...1.8mil thb (72k SGD) can also buy the same size same as the area mentioned above. Basically , all works the same in most countires.
Some inside Ratchada, those small soi, even at 1.3mil thb (52k SGD) 48SQM( Older condo with basic facility with pool and gym)
Is all up to what you eyeing for.......

Casual tots, to compare, taiwan defitnetly better than in Singapore for retirement.. Singapore has nothing and not as much as Taiwan can offer.

Yes that's why I've mentioned to draven78eric unless staying in ulu places or up in the mountains then confirm lower cost of living than Singapore.

Taiwan is so big so must state which part.
